(COLORADO SPRINGS) — The Cheyenne Mountain Zoo (CMZoo) has begun construction on a new entrance, admission plaza, gift shop, and a new 10,000-square-foot giraffe barn.

CMZoo is offering a sneak peek at the construction plans on the zoo’s website, featuring a virtual walkthrough of the future facilities.

The zoo remains open during construction and guests will continue to be able to visit animals, including those in the African Rift Valley, such as the African lions, giraffes, and some of the smaller animals. As construction shifts to different locations, routes to the animals will change.

Guests are asked to be patient, watch out for directions on signs, and ask for help when needed.
