PRECIPITATION – CHANCES, IMPACTS, AND SNOW AMOUNTS
(SOUTHERN COLORADO) — Some flurries and light snow through Wednesday morning will give way to a more widespread and heavier period of snow Tuesday night. Travel conditions will deteriorate across the region Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning’s commute is expected to be slow.
Forecasting snow amounts with this storm is a challenge. We KNOW there will be multiple bands of snow. We KNOW they’ll be oriented from the southwest to the northeast. We DON’T KNOW with certainty where they will be.
That makes telling you how much snow you’re going to get out your front door very difficult to do because it will vary greatly. If you’re in a spot that misses the bands entirely, you may get an inch of snow. If you park under one of the heavier bands for a significant length of time, you could get five or six inches of snow!
VERY COLD TEMPERATURES THROUGH EARLY THURSDAY
Keep in mind that breezes over the course of the next 48 hours will make it feel a lot colder than it actually is outside. Bundle up!
