Week of love: An elopement photographer captures memories

(Colorado Springs) — A Colorado Springs-based photographer is capturing memories for those freshly encountering married life.

Abigail Ramirez is the owner of Intimate Elopement Adventures. “Love is intimate and unique and fun and special in every single way,” said Ramirez. “All of my couples are so different and unique in every way. And that’s another thing that I really love about elopement.”

Jacob and Grace Smith were her muses on the day FOX21 met her at the Garden of the Gods.

The Smiths have been married for three years this July. Jacob planned a photoshoot with Ramirez as a date for his wife. The two donned the same clothes they wore on their wedding day.

“I think that’s important in a relationship to continue to renew it and to keep it alive and vibrant and do things like that.” Jacob said. “You know, like you said, bring out the wedding dress and the suit and remember what it was like on that on that day when you got married.”

“And I wasn’t that surprised, actually, because he’s always planning these fun, crazy ideas.” Grace said of the date plans.

Pikes Peak was perfectly snowcapped for the morning of pictures. “I really admire when couples value their relationship and what’s best for them,” Ramirez said. “When I started my business, I went off the idea that I should not have to compromise on my dreams because of the expectations of others.”

Ramirez said that couples who elope choose to do so for a variety of reasons, including saving money and avoiding stress while experiencing a luxury destination.
