Former Douglas County teacher arrested on charges including kidnapping

DENVER (KDVR) — A former Douglas County teacher was arrested on charges of kidnapping and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

On Thursday, detectives with the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office Special Victims Unit arrested 44-year-old Tera Johnson-Swartz. The sheriff’s office said she previously worked as a teacher at STEM School Highlands Ranch. The school is a public charter school that serves students from kindergarten through 12th grade.

Very few details were initially released about the allegations against Johnson-Swartz, but she was arrested for kidnapping and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

The sheriff’s office said Johnson-Swartz is being held in the Douglas County Detention Facility.

This is an ongoing investigation, and the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office said no further information would be released.
