(COLORADO SPRINGS) — One person died after an apparent shooting in Colorado Springs, east of Memorial Park, on Friday afternoon, May 16.
According to Ira Cronin, the Public Relations Manager for the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD), the first 911 call was made at around 2:40 p.m., reporting a disturbance between two people and a shooting that had just occurred in the 2800 block of East Pikes Peak Avenue.
When officers arrived, they found one person suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. While medical aid was provided, according to CSPD, the person succumbed to their injuries on the scene.
CSPD said police are speaking to a “person of interest” and believe that “…everyone involved with this incident is accounted for,” Cronin said.
The CSPD Homicide Unit responded and has taken over the investigation. The shopping center will be closed for several hours due to the investigation.

A large police presence was seen by FOX21 News’ crew at an area east of Memorial Park on Friday afternoon, May 16.
Our crew arrived at the scene in the 2800 block of East Pikes Peak Avenue, which is near the intersection with South Circle Drive, just after 3:15 p.m.
