(CHAFFEE COUNTY, Colo.) — Chaffee County Sheriff Andy Rohrich swore in a new four-legged deputy on Wednesday, July 2, in time for the Fourth of July festivities.
K9 Deputy Jaxson was officially sworn in as a Peer Support K9 with the help of his handler, Undersheriff Alex Walker, his pawprint signature proudly displayed on the Appointment of Deputy With Oath document.
He declined the opportunity to make a speech, instead choosing to mark the occasion by indulging in treats, according to the Chaffee County Sheriff’s Office.
The Sheriff’s Office extended thanks to the Roy Williams Foundation at Advance Service Dogs for their donations to the program.
The Sheriff’s Office stated that locals will get the chance to spot him during the Fourth of July parades in Salida and Poncha Springs.
