Person in Basalt wins $2.3M jackpot with rare lottery match

DENVER (KDVR) — A person in Basalt beat the odds of one in 3.8 million after matching all six numbers on the Colorado Lotto+, winning them a $2.3 million jackpot.

The Colorado Lottery said one person purchased two Colorado Lotto+ tickets from The Basalt Store for the Saturday drawing. The tickets cost $4 in total from the gas station, but the buyer walked away with much more.

While one of the tickets didn’t match the numbers, the other lucky ticket matched all six winning numbers, which were 14-17-19-22-29-39. The lottery said the odds of matching all six numbers for the Colorado Lotto+ were one in 3,838,380, and this person was the lucky one.

In total, they won a $2.3 million jackpot. In cash, this would be $1,150,000.

The lottery said the winner hasn’t claimed their prize. If they don’t claim their prize within 180 days after the drawing, the money goes into the beneficiary fund, where it is distributed to Great Outdoors Colorado, the Conservation Trust fund and Colorado Parks and Wildlife.

This isn’t the only lucky win in Colorado recently. In mid-June, someone purchased what would’ve been a $1 million ticket in Johnstown, but since Mega Millions changed the game, the winner tallied a $2 million win thanks to a new, automatic multiplier.
