CSPD: Apparent murder-suicide victims identified

(COLORADO SPRINGS) — Two bodies found on Sunday, Aug. 10, in a Colorado Springs home appear to be victims of a murder-suicide, according to the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD). Police have released the identities of the two people.

According to CSPD, around 2:15 p.m. on Sunday, officers responded to the scene at the 4100 block of Sod House Trail, near Barnes Road and Oro Blanco Drive, on reports of a shooting. When officers arrived, they found the bodies of a man and a woman, both with gunshot wounds. The Homicide Unit responded and took over the investigation.

On Tuesday, Aug. 12, the El Paso County Coroner’s Office conducted an autopsy and identified the two as 45-year-old Tanya Burnside and 42-year-old Bryce Tallent. The coroner’s office will determine the cause and manner of death; however, Burnside’s death is being investigated as a homicide, and Tallent’s death is being investigated as a suicide, according to CSPD.

This was the 22nd homicide in 2025 in Colorado Springs. At this time in 2024, there were 26 homicides.
