(ALAMOSA COUNTY, Colo.) — Barry Morphew, the man accused of murder in connection with the death of his wife, Suzanne, is scheduled to appear in court for a status hearing on Tuesday, Sept. 2, at 1:30 p.m.
Morphew was extradited to Colorado following his arrest in Arizona on June 20 after a grand jury returned an indictment charging Morphew with the murder of his wife.
Suzanne Morphew’s body was found near Highway 17 in Saguache County in 2023, three years after her disappearance. The District Attorney’s Office said that her body was found in a “shallow clandestine grave” less than an hour south of the Morphew home.
An investigative report revealed that an animal tranquilizer had started being metabolized by Suzanne at the time of her death, and that the only private citizen in the state with access to that particular type of tranquilizer at the time was Barry. Additionally, the DA’s Office stated in the indictment that a tranquilizer rifle was found in a gun safe along with darts and capped hypodermic needles used to load the darts. A hypodermic needle cap was found in the dryer at the Morphew home after the dryer’s contents were removed.
FOX21 News will cover Barry Morphew’s appearance in court and will update this article when more information becomes available.
