(EL PASO COUNTY, Colo.) — The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office (EPSO) has confirmed several arrests following a search for a stolen SUV, which revealed a litany of illegal drugs, including over 1,000 fentanyl pills.
On Oct. 21, at almost 3:30 a.m., one of EPSO’s Patrol Sergeants spotted a stolen GMC Acadia driving on Highway 24 near Peterson Space Force Base’s North Gate.
According to the official report, EPSO followed the SUV until deputies created a barricade with their patrol cars near the intersection of Boulder Street and Union Boulevard.
The driver, now identified as 41-year-old Tasavion Butler, tried to run, but was quickly caught by EPSO. Butler’s two passengers stayed inside the Acadia and were detained.
After bringing Butler and his passengers into custody, EPSO reports that the stolen SUV contained:
Approximately 1,100 fentanyl pills
14 grams of methamphetamine
56.5 grams of MDMA
3 grams of heroin
Drug paraphernalia associated with narcotics distribution
$3,790 in cash
$560 in counterfeit currency
Butler was booked into the El Paso County Jail and is being held under a $50,000 bond on charges for Second-Degree Motor Vehicle Theft, Unlawful Distribution, Manufacturing, Dispensing, or Sale, Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance, Obstructing a Peace Officer, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and was marked as a Special Offender.
A woman who was also in the GMC was 44-year-old Stephanie Schneck, whom EPSO discovered had an active misdemeanor warrant for her arrest. As a result, she was also booked into the El Paso County Jail and is being held without bond.
