(FOUNTAIN, Colo.) — Fountain City Council has declared a vacancy for an At-Large seat following the resignation of former councilmember Detra Duncan.
On Monday, Oct. 27, Duncan entered a not-guilty plea on charges of theft. Duncan resigned from Fountain City Council after allegations were made against her, claiming that she falsified applications to qualify for food assistance, Medicaid, and other benefits for herself and her child, while concealing her position as an elected official. Duncan stated that her resignation was for “personal reasons.”
Jury selection for Duncan’s trial is set to begin March 30, 2026.
Recently, City Council officially declared the vacancy for her seat, and is looking for people interested in filling the position. Selection for the vacancy will be separate from the November election, the City of Fountain said.
