(PUEBLO, Colo.) — The body of a deceased man was found in the 2500 block of Lakeshore Avenue, near Lake Minnequa Reservoir, when a call came in to the Pueblo Police Department (PPD) at around 1 a.m. on Sunday, Nov. 9.

According to PPD, when officers arrived at the scene, the people who had called about the discovery led police to the location of the victim’s body. Detectives from the Crimes Against Persons and Crime Scene Investigations Sections took over the investigation. PPD reported that the death is being investigated as a homicide, but it appears to be an isolated incident.

The Pueblo County Coroner’s Office identified the deceased person as 31-year-old Santana D. Lucero. His next of kin has been notified.

According to PPD, this is the 13th homicide of 2025. By this time in 2024, there were 17 homicides in Pueblo.
