A gun and drugs found during Cañon City traffic stop

(CAÑON CITY, Colo.) — The Cañon City Police Department (CCPD) said officers found illegal drugs and arrested two suspects after a traffic stop on Monday, Jan. 13.

According to CCPD, on Monday at around 9:30 p.m., officers pulled over a car in the 3100 block of US Highway 50 in Cañon City. The two people in the car were identified as 41-year-old Justin Miller of Pueblo and 42-year-old Daniel Winn of Cañon City.

During the stop, K9 Radar was deployed and alerted officers to the odor of narcotics which led officers to search the vehicle. CCPD said officers found a .22 caliber gun, 34.1 grams of Methamphetamine, 1.2 grams of Cocaine, 3.7 grams of Heroin, and 2.3 grams of Fentanyl along with multiple pieces of drug paraphernalia. Police also found items that CCPD said led officers to believe the men were involved in the distribution of drugs.

Miller was arrested and is being held on the following charges:

Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance less 1g of Fentanyl

Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance less than 4g of Heroin

Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance less than 4g of Cocaine

Unlawful Distribution of a Controlled Substance over 14g less than 250g

Special Offender – 2 counts

Introduction of Contraband in the Second Degree

Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

Winn was arrested and is being held on the following charges:

Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance over 4g of Heroin

Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance over 1g of Fentanyl

Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance less than 4g of Cocaine

Special Offender – 2 counts

Introduction of Contraband in the second degree

Possession of a weapon by the previous offender

Possession of drug paraphernalia
