While certain fireworks are restricted in El Paso County, Jody Ilett, the owner of Affordable Flags and Fireworks, has what you need to know to stay safe within the law while still enjoying your celebration to the fullest.
Tips from Affordable Flags and Fireworks on celebrating safely:
What is legal, and where is it legal?

Any type of fireworks that leaves the ground is illegal in Colorado.
Roman candles, artillery shells, pop bottle rockets, firecrackers, lady fingers, mortars, and anything that explodes are also illegal.
How to light fireworks safely?
Always have an adult use a long lighter, punk, or propane torch and keep a bucket of water nearby when lighting fireworks.
How old do you have to be to purchase fireworks?
