Alleged UCCS shooter could face new charges after jail assault

(COLORADO SPRINGS) — Nicholas Jordan, the man who was arrested for his alleged involvement in a double homicide at the University of Colorado Colorado Springs (UCCS) on Feb. 16, could face new charges after the 4th Judicial District Attorney’s (DA) Office said he assaulted a deputy at the El Paso County Criminal Justice Center (CJC).

According to the DA’s office, Jordan allegedly punched a deputy at the CJC on Wednesday, March 20, and the DA is reviewing the case to determine the appropriate filing of charges. Jordan could face additional charges of Second Degree Assault on a Peace Officer, a felony, and misdemeanor Harassment.

Jordan was originally arrested on Feb. 19, three days after the shooting deaths of Samuel Knopp and Celie Montgomery. Jordan was found sitting in a car north of the Centennial Boulevard and Garden of the Gods Road intersection and was taken into custody by the Colorado Springs Police Department’s Tactical Enforcement Unit.

Jordan is due in court for the new charges on Wednesday, March 27 at 3 p.m.
