Alpine Bank warns of text and email scams

(COLORADO) — Alpine Bank is advising customers at all banking institutions that fraudsters are sending fake texts and emails designed to trick people into disclosing their confidential bank account information or taking money out of their accounts.

Alpine Bank said fraudsters are targeting victims by sending texts or emails requesting confirmation of a fake transaction. The messages often result in the scammer calling the victim, impersonating a bank’s fraud center, then asking the victim to verify their login name and password or urged to transfer money to a different account.

Alpine Bank said it will never ask you for your password or other login information. Alpine Bank is warning the public to be cautious of unsolicited messages telling you something is wrong with your account, especially if the message creates a sense of urgency.

“When in doubt, contact your bank’s main number and log into your account using the main bank website that you always use. Please remember to keep your private information secure to protect against fraud,” writes Alpine Bank.
