(COLORADO SPRINGS) — Colorado Springs-based nonprofit, Angels of America’s Fallen, will celebrate its 10th Anniversary Angel Gala on Saturday, April 26 at the new Hotel Polaris at the U.S. Air Force Academy (USAFA).
FOX21 News Storm Team Chief Meteorologist Matt Meister spoke with Joe Lewis, CEO of Angels of America’s Fallen, and Jennifer Hicks of Purpose Planning, the Angel Gala Presenting Sponsor, on Wednesday morning, Feb. 19, to learn more about the event and what people can expect.
“It’s really supporting the children of our nation’s heroes, as well as really celebrating them during this gala event,” said Hicks.
According to the Angels of America’s Fallen website, over 16,000 children have lost their military or first responder parent since 9/11, and the organization’s mission is to support those children through activities, grief counseling, and scholarships.
“We want to make sure that we get them all the way out of high school, so when they are enrolled [with Angels of America’s Fallen], we are committed until they are 19,” said Lewis.
