DENVER (KDVR) — Severe weather hit across Colorado on Sunday, May 18, with tornadoes touching down across the northeastern plains.
As of mid-afternoon, several tornado warnings and watches had been reported across the eastern plains, with tornadoes confirmed to have touched down near Bennett and Parker, with Adams County officials reporting at least 10 homes or buildings damaged or lost to the storm, and Elizabeth Fire Protection District reporting 19 homes with minor to severe damage in its area.
Although metro Denver may see some showers or thunderstorms, severe weather is not expected along the I-25 corridor. The Colorado Division of Homeland Security Emergency Management Field Operations and the Colorado Emergency Operations Center are monitoring for resource requests and requests for assistance due to the weather impacts.
The weather comes on the heels of deadly severe weather across much of the Midwest, with The Associated Press reporting that at least 27 people were killed during the aggressive storms, including 18 people in Kentucky.
