(SOUTHERN COLORADO) — August and summer are slowly coming to a close, and looking back at recent data, we can see that it has been rather warm. As of Wednesday, Aug. 28, Colorado Springs and Pueblo reported 23 days with above average temperatures.

Colorado springs had nearly 10 days with temperatures at 90 degrees or more, and Pueblo had 4 days that featured triple digits. As you can see, Colorado Springs and Pueblo follow similar temperature trends but data starts to change for precipitation.

With just a few days left to go in August, models are hinting at mostly dry conditions to wrap up the month. As of Wednesday, 13 days had over a trace of precipitation for the Springs and Pueblo had 7. Despite Colorado Springs having a dry stretch at the end of the month, the area did manage to see a normal amount of precipitation for August.
Checking in with the drought monitor, there are a few trouble spots across the area. The Denver metro is experiencing some severe drought along with portions of the Pikes Peak Region. Southern Colorado’s eastern counties could also use some more moisture.
