(TELLER COUNTY, Colo.) — The Teller County Office of Emergency Management (OEM) said an avalanche/rock slide early Sunday, March 17 jeopardized the safety of an equipment operator and closed a county road north of Cañon City.
According to Teller County OEM, on Sunday morning an avalanche/rock slide happened on County Road 88 or Shelf Road just north of Cañon City. The incident endangered the life of an equipment operator who was safe and able to return home.

County Road 88 is closed until further notice while Teller County works to restore access to the road. Teller County OEM said those living in the area of County Road 88 can drive at their own risk but the road is closed to all others.
