Back again: Buc-ee’s resubmits annexation request for Palmer Lake location

(PALMER LAKE, Colo.) — Buc-ee’s is back. After withdrawing its initial annexation request in March, the travel stop resubmitted its annexation request that would open the door for the second Buc-ee’s in the state.

Earlier in March, Integrity Matters and TriLakes Preservation announced the annexation request had been withdrawn. When asked, a Buc-ee’s spokesperson told FOX21 News they had “encountered a technical issue” with the original application and would submit a new one “soon.”

On April 10, an annexation request for three parcels of land near Beacon Lite Road and I-25 was presented during the Board of Trustees meeting. Now, the annexation request asks for parcels of land connected to both Douglas County and El Paso County, totaling about 60 acres.

The community has closely followed the project, with some in favor and others against the travel stop.

An eligibility hearing and special meeting at the Palmer Lake Town Hall has been set for Thursday, May 29 at 6 p.m.
