(COLORADO SPRINGS) — Bad Ass Coffee is expanding across Olympic City and will be celebrating its newest addition and grand opening on Saturday, Dec. 14.
Originating in Hawaii, Bad Ass Coffee aims to share premium Hawaiian coffee with customers everywhere. The newest store, located at 13941 Bass Pro Drive in the Polaris Point entertainment district, will open on Saturday.
Local entrepreneurs and owners Lee Wilwerding and Starlene Cook joined forces to open their third location in the Springs over the last three years.
Wilwerding has extensive experience managing and growing businesses, including a multi-location veterinary practice, where he met Cook who also has business experience. The love for Hawaiian-roasted coffee was born during Wilwerdings’ overnight shifts as a veterinarian and later cemented during a transformative trip to Hawaii, where he discovered Bad Ass Coffee.
“Bringing Bad Ass Coffee to Colorado Springs has been an incredible journey, and opening our third location is a testament to how much this community loves the bold, authentic flavors of Hawaiian coffee,” said Wilwerding. “We’re proud to continue sharing a little taste of paradise, now in the North Gate community.”
The coffee brand name pays tribute to Hawaiian coffee history, where donkeys could often be heard as they carried loads of coffee beans down the mountain.
“We’re thrilled to open our third Bad Ass Coffee of Hawaii location in Colorado Springs, furthering our mission to bring premium Hawaiian coffee and the Aloha Spirit to the community,” said Gregg Koffler, Chief Development Officer of Bad Ass Coffee of Hawaii. “This milestone strengthens our presence and overall brand awareness in the region, and we’re excited to continue connecting with even more coffee lovers.”
Cook now oversees the first two Bas Ass Coffee stores in Colorado Springs. During the grand opening celebration, guests can enjoy giveaways, games, and coffee.
