(COLORADO SPRINGS) — It’s Black History Month, and there are many ways of celebrating in Colorado Springs. One of the ways you can celebrate is by supporting black-owned businesses.
Jake Norment owns and operates Caffeinated Cow. It’s a very charming coffee and ice cream shop that he opened with his wife.
As a black business owner, he says he faces roadblocks and challenges every day.
“People will find themselves hating, and they will do that regardless. In our business, it’s really hard to come in here and have that energy or have that attitude. We break down barriers, we bring people together,” said Norment, “We’re all about diversity and including everyone. Literally just making our community better. I can’t change the world, but I can definitely make the community that I live in impactful and amazing.”
He says the Small Business Development Center helped him out a lot. For anyone interested in starting a business, Norment says “Just do it.”
