Bo Nix rookie card increasing in value, flying off local shelves ahead of playoff game

AURORA, Colo. (KDVR) — As the Broncos playoff matchup nears, local trading card stores are feeling the impacts of the hype.

Mike’s Stadium Sportscard is a popular sport for Broncos fans, but Bo Nix’s rookie card has been flying off the shelves, and some rare rookie cards have even been going for hundreds or thousands of dollars.

Mike’s Stadium Sportscard actually sold their last two Nix cards right after FOX31 visited their store on Thursday.

“It’s been fun selling all of our Bo Nix cards, he’s kind of taken the city by storm. Collectors love him, fans love him and it’s been a fun time in Denver with making the playoffs. There were a lot of Bo Nix cards that got given for Christmas,” assistant manager Patrick Kernan said.

Kernan said his card wasn’t always the most popular, but as the season has gone on, Nix has found his stride and this wild card game, making Nix’s card wildly popular.

“Kind of a build I’d say, Broncos fans are avid collectors. They love the Broncos, so there was a lot of excitement when we took a quarterback early in the first round. Got our guy. Sean Peyton wanted him and so there was excitement. Little slower build with how he was playing and the team was playing, but then he turned it on and rattled off a bunch of wins,” said Kernan.

Even the lower-priced rookie cards, like $4, could get to $10 with a win on Sunday.
