Caretakers announce Donkey Summer of Fun dates

(CRIPPLE CREEK, Colo.) — The Two Mile High Club (TMHC), caretakers of the Cripple Creek Donkeys, announced the dates for three events happening over the summer into fall.

According to TMHC, on Memorial Day, May 26, the donkeys anxiously await escorts by TMHC wranglers to be released into Cripple Creek. The day is reminiscent of the original release in 1931 and begins the Donkey Summer of Fun in Cripple Creek.

On Friday, June 27, Donkey Derby Days begins and lasts through Sunday, June 29. According to TMHC, the event was an incredible success in 2024 with around 30,000 people in attendance. In 2025, the Donkey Races will be held on Saturday and Sunday. TMHC expects this year’s to be the biggest yet.

From Oct. 4 through Oct. 5, the Donkey Summer of Fun in Cripple Creek ends with Fall Fest. Organizers said Fall Fest will feature popular activities like the Fall Photo Booth and pumpkin carving contests. The event is a perfect complement to a leaf-peeping drive in the area, according to TMHC.
