(COLORADO SPRINGS) — The Cheyenne Mountain Zoo (CMZoo) is holding its annual Military Appreciation Week starting on Monday, Sept. 9 offering all active-duty, veteran, and retired military members and their families 50% off base zoo admission.
During the week military members get a bigger discount than normally offered year-round for military. Timed-entry e-tickets are required and can be purchased on CMZoo’s website, tickets can be validated at the front gate by military personnel or a spouse with a valid military ID. Accepted IDs include; military retired military ID, a copy of form DD214, a state driver’s license printed with a veteran indicator or military identifier, or an ID issued by the VA, VFW, or American Legion.
During Military Appreciation Week CMZoo will also hold its Silent Night on Wednesday, Sept. 11 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Silent Night is designed to allow guests to enjoy an evening of peaceful mindfulness. Guests will be asked to silence their cell phones and other noisy devices and keep all communications to a whisper. There will be no loudspeaker announcements, keeper talks, carousel rides, or conversations above a whisper.
There will be designated noise-friendly buildings for those who need to take an important call or regroup.
As Silent Night takes place on the same week as Military Appreciation, tickets for Silent Night are also discounted to 50% for veterans.
