Chuckwagon 719 brick and mortar restaurant in the works

(COLORADO SPRINGS) — Popular barbecue pop-up Chuckwagon 719 is signing the lease on a brick-and-mortar location the week of Feb. 26, and is excited to take the next step of providing delicious Texas BBQ to Southern Colorado.

Chuckwagon 719 posted on Facebook to make the announcement, including a tentative grand opening in April, right around the small business’s one year anniversary. Chuckwagon 719 will move in to the old location of their friends, the Sourdough Boulangerie, after Sourdough Boulangerie expands to the building next door to its current location on Omaha Boulevard, southeast of Powers Boulevard and Palmer Park Boulevard.

Jared & Deidre Hammond, owners of Chuckwagon 719, are originally from Houston, Texas, and moved to Southern Colorado almost a decade ago. They told FOX21’s Loving Living Local in December that they have always wanted to bring a taste of home to the Pikes Peak Region, and now the new brick-and-mortar store is the latest step in planting roots here in Southern Colorado.

“It’s a dream come true for us!” said Jared Hammond. “We couldn’t be more excited about moving into a brick and mortar location.”

FOX21 News reached out to Chuckwagon 719, and asked how their reception to Colorado Springs has propped them up to expand to a brick-and-mortar.

“The community support has been absolutely incredible! The support we have been shown and [given] is nothing short of amazing!” said Jared. “Our hopes for the new location are to help bring more life to the East side of town and bring an Authentic Texas bbq experience to the Springs.”

The building décor will go for a classic Texas BBQ feel, and Chuckwagon 719 said it will have a special carving station that faces guests so you can see your fresh meat getting carved up right in front of you.

As far as what BBQ lovers can expect, Chuckwagon 719 said new menu items are in the works, as well as the addition of new custom pits/smokers. Chuckwagon 719 also teased wood fire burgers and reservation-only steak nights!

Chuckwagon 719 will be located at 6453 Omaha Boulevard on the city’s east side. Follow them on Instagram @chuckwagon719 and on Facebook at The Chuckwagon 719 for updates on their grand opening.
