(EL PASO COUNTY, Colo.) — The Colorado Springs City Council will be considering an annexation vote that could be a major addition to the city.
On Tuesday, March 11, City Council is set to vote on the annexation of 3,107.11 acres located west of I-25 and south of Charter Oak Ranch Road, adjacent to Fort Carson, near Fountain.
According to the project statement, the property would serve as an industrial complex and seek to create opportunities for manufacturing jobs. It could also create a second railroad access to Fort Carson.
The statement also said that on the northern side, there is a transition to light industrial and commercial service uses.
If approved, those behind the project say it would create 7,700 new jobs and help diversify the economy of the region by creating a new manufacturing site.
City Council will meet at 9 a.m. at the Council Chambers on Tuesday.
