City releases study on parking management plan

(COLORADO SPRINGS) — The City of Colorado Springs released its final draft of a Parking and Curb Management study and is asking the community to provide feedback through the month of April.

The process started in the summer of 2024 with an analysis of the current parking plans and policies, followed by two rounds of community feedback on parking and curbside management in Downtown and Old Colorado City.

The goal of the eventual plan is to actively manage the curb, increase off-street parking productivity, embrace and leverage technology, and create a comprehensive customer experience. The plan considers current city zoning and municipal codes while sometimes suggesting changes.

The study has four recommended plans with various tactics for each plan. The proposed tactics range from immediate to longer four or more-year implementations and various levels of effort and costs.

“We are excited to begin this final phase of public feedback for the parking and curb management study,” said Richard Mulledy, the City’s Public Works Director. “We’ve completed two rounds of robust public engagement, and we feel this report reflects the public and stakeholder feedback we’ve received as we continue to improve our overall parking system in Downtown Colorado Springs and Old Colorado City.”
