CMZoo warns of scam offering four tickets for $6.95

(COLORADO SPRINGS) — Cheyenne Mountain Zoo is warning visitors to beware of a new scam that is targeting the community.

CMZoo announced on Thursday, Aug. 22 that a new scam is aiming to steal financial information from those who are trying to buy “discounted” tickets. Fake accounts and scammers are claiming to offer deeply discounted admission tickets in graphics, one even offered four tickets for the price of $6.95, like the one shown below.

These scams aim to steal credit cards and other information, and the zoo said they are not affiliated with CMZoo.

“We work really hard behind the scenes to protect our social media fans from this kind of thing,” said CMZoo on Facebook. “But our options to have these scams removed are limited.”

The zoo is advising people to follow the following guidelines to protect themselves from scammers:

Valid CMZoo tickets are only available at cmzo.org.

Do not purchase tickets from any other website, through a social media platform or otherwise.

The only discounts CMZoo honors are those listed on their website and available at checkout.

CMZoo said if anyone sees a post offering discounted admission to the zoo, you should send it to the zoo and the zoo will “do their best to help.”
