Colorado high school cycling climbing to the top

(COLORADO SPRINGS) — The Colorado Cycling League kicked off their 15th season back in August where hundreds of youth riders from Colorado, Wyoming, New Mexico and South Dakota compete against each other.

In Colorado Springs there are 8 teams including: Air Academy, Cheyenne Mountain, Coronado, Fountain Valley, Highlanders Composite, Manitou Springs, Palmer, and Palmer Ridge.

The Highlanders Composite team includes Discovery Canyon, Pine Creek, Liberty, Rampart, TCA, Ascend, and The Village.

On Oct. 19 and 20, hundreds of high school athletes converged on Glenwood Springs for a chance to become state champion in 1 or 8 categories.

At the state championship, the Air Academy team placed third in Division 1 and also had 3 individual podiums this year.

The cycling season will pick back up Spring 2025 where there is plenty of room for both girl and boy youth riders to join a team!
