(COLORADO SPRINGS) — On Monday, April 8 the Colorado School for the Deaf and the Blind (CSDB) celebrated its 150th anniversary.
Monday’s celebrations included; presentations from state and county representatives, an alum Q&A, a time capsule activity, and more.
According to CSDB, the school was created in 1874 when Colorado was still a territory and was founded by Jonathan R. Kennedy.
In 1895 the school was renamed to the Colorado School for the Deaf and the Blind and today serves more than 700 students. “So here, I think that really the students and the teachers both have impacted me because we have great communication here,” said Yoleth Valtierra, a student at CSDB.
