(COLORADO SPRINGS) — Colorado Springs Mayor Yemi Mobolade held a press conference on Wednesday, March 20, to provide an update on infrastructure and road construction projects across the city.

The mayor says this year alone, there’s been over 800 requests to get potholes filled. City employees are working hard to get them done, but the mayor says that’s only a temporary solution. He says the real solution lies in repaving our roads, made possible by the 2C road improvement program.

The City announced plans to improve Oro Blanco Drive, Flying W Ranch Road, Cheyenne Boulevard, and South Chelton Road. The mayor added that if there was concrete work done last year in your neighborhood, road improvements are coming your way this year. Next week, the long-anticipated downtown Tejon Street revitalization project begins, while many active projects continue.

“We are making significant progress on major infrastructure projects, including the ongoing reconstruction of Academy Boulevard and the replacement of Circle Drive bridges,” said Mayor Mobolade. “In just the first three months of this year, we have made great strides in the widening of Marksheffel Road, and I’m pleased to share that Dublin Boulevard is nearing its final engineering stage with construction to begin later this year.”

City officials also spoke about updating the parks system master plan. Over the course of this summer, they’ll be looking for community input on the future of our parks and recreation. They say to stay tuned to the City’s website if you’d like your voice to be heard.
