(COLORADO SPRINGS) — A Colorado Springs man who pled guilty to assaulting law enforcement during the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol breach has been sentenced.
On Oct. 24, 2023, 49-year-old Jonathan David Grace pled guilty to a felony charge of assaulting, resisting, or impeding certain officers.
The FBI said Grace on Jan. 6 attended the “Stop the Steal” rally and afterward marched to the U.S. Capitol and entered a restricted area of the Capitol. During his time there, Grace fought with officers and pushed against them, retreating only after being sprayed with a chemical irritant by police.
Grace was sentenced by a judge on Tuesday, Jan. 30, 2024. He was sentenced to two years in prison, three years of supervised release, and ordered to pay $5,000 in fines and $2,000 in restitution.
