Colorado Springs Police Department women officers help fill gap

(COLORADO SPRINGS) — The Colorado Springs Police Department’s (CSPD) total workforce is comprised of 15.4% women, which is higher than the national average of 12%.

Their most recent graduating class had 22% women too add to their staff.

Deputy Chief for CSPD’s Patrol Bureau, Mary Rosenoff commented,” It doesn’t really matter if you are male or female, we are able to pick out the best candidates that are ready for this responsibility, and also have a keen fondness for community service because you have to have that compassion piece.”

The new women officers will help bridge the gap that CSPD is seeing in officers to help with call times and other areas of the department. At the same time being able to bring different strengths to the table.

“I think one of the things that we bring is that we’re very organized.” Rosenoff said, “And even though there’s so many things going on, and we have to make quick decisions, I think when we get information in, we’re just used to prioritizing and organizing things.”
