Colorado’s first Buc-ee’s location announces opening date

DENVER (KDVR) — In less than a month, Colorado’s first Buc-ee’s will open.

On Wednesday, Buc-ee’s officially announced its Johnstown location will open to the public on March 18 at 6 a.m. A ribbon-cutting ceremony will happen at 11 a.m. with state and local leaders in attendance.

Why is everyone so excited about Colorado’s first Buc-ee’s?

The chain of mega country stores and gas stations hails from Texas, and they aren’t your ordinary gas stations. The Johnstown spot will be located at 5201 Nugget Road, which is fitting a name as one of their top-selling products is Beaver Nuggets.

According to the company, the Colorado location will occupy a massive 74,000 square feet. You will rarely have to wait for a gas pump, as Buc-ee’s will have 116 fueling positions and 12 EV charging stations.

Aside from its fueling options, Buc-ee’s offers even more inside its convenience store. From a variety of snacks, meals and souvenir items, Buc-ee’s seemingly offers everything.

The convenience store is known for its beef jerky, brisket and fudge.

Buc-ee’s has become a must-visit gas station thanks to one of its top commodities, the cleanest bathrooms in America.

The Washington Post described the bathrooms as being “famously clean and well-maintained to appeal to the chain’s core audience — families on road trips.”

Buc-ee’s is so proud of this recognition, they have put it on several highway billboards.

On March 18, Johnstown Mayor Troy Mellon, Mayor pro-tem Damien Berg, Councilmembers Jesse Molinar, Dianne Morris, Andrew Paranto, and Chad Young, and Town Manager Matt LeCerf will be in attendance for the ribbon-cutting ceremony.

Johnstown will be the 48th Buc-ee’s location and will bring 200 new, permanent, full-time jobs to the area.
