(COLORADO SPRINGS) — On Friday, Sept. 20 the community gathered at the Zeal Church in the Citadel Mall to discuss ways to bring back customers to the shopping center.
The conversation comes after a string of gun violence at the mall, which caused the owners of the mall to reinvest in mall security. The mall was also recently added and then removed from the Armed Forces Disciplinary Control Board’s list of off-limits areas and establishments.
The community brainstormed possible ideas to help improve the safety of the establishment. Ideas ranged from renaming the mall, building a proposed police training academy in the area, installing a kids’ playground, and having more community events.
