(COLORADO SPRINGS) — The U.S. Figure Skating team said a community vigil will be held for the 28 members of the figure skating community lost on the American Airlines flight that collided with a helicopter last Wednesday.
On Wednesday, Jan. 29 an American Airlines flight collided with an Army helicopter over Washington D.C. killing 67 people in the largest U.S. air disaster since 2001. Of the 67 killed were 28 athletes, coaches, and family members of the figure skating community.
The vigil will be held at the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Museum on Monday, Feb. 3 at 7 p.m. All members of the figure skating, Olympic and Paralympic, and local Colorado community are invited to attend. Guests can bring flowers, notes, or other mementos to honor those lost.
