(COLORADO SPRINGS) — The City of Colorado Springs said the project to replace four bridges on Circle Drive started on Monday, Dec. 4.
The City said the bridges were originally built in 1963, and the City will replace all four bridges. The project is expected to be completed by the fall of 2025.
The project will be completed in two phases according to the City. The first phase will construct eastbound bridges alongside the current bridges. Once the new bridges are open, the eastbound traffic will shift to the newly constructed bridges, and then the westbound bridges will be constructed.
The public should expect traffic impacts, such as lane shifts, trail detours, and minimized speeds. The Pikes Peak Greenway Trail will have a detour in place during construction, and the trail will detour onto Janitell Road and Circle Drive.
