Convoy honors Charlie Kirk for 32nd birthday

(COLORADO SPRINGS) — Hundreds gathered in Colorado Springs to honor the late Charlie Kirk on what would have been his 32nd birthday.

The event, organized by the Colorado Freedom Convoy, aimed to unite the community and celebrate Kirk’s legacy as a conservative activist and founder of Turning Point USA.

“I just want us to be with the people again, and it being not red versus blue, but red, white, and blue,” said Heidi Bear, a member of the Colorado Freedom Convoy.

Participants waved American flags, honked horns, and displayed signs and photos as they drove through downtown Colorado Springs and into Manitou Springs.

Zoey Mendenhall, a young participant, expressed admiration for Kirk, stating, “We’re trying to support Charlie Kirk, and he was the only man to get enough courage to talk in front of all your politics, just to help all of us carry courage with him.”

Kirk was shot and killed on September 10th while speaking at Utah Valley University, and his supporters continue to spread his message.

Heidi Bear emphasized the importance of unity, saying, “I want us to start uniting. I’m so tired of the division. I’m so tired of the hate. It’s everywhere.”

The convoy has been able to connect with people of different beliefs, including members of the LGBTQ community, according to Bear.

On Kirk’s birthday, the group plans to donate to the homeless community as a way to give back.
