COS apartment complex to receive $1 million from State

(COLORADO) — Jetwing Flats in Colorado Springs is one of 18 housing providers in the state to receive part of a new $46.5 million fund from the Colorado State Housing Board (SHB).

The Colorado Department of Local Affairs (DOLA) and Division of Housing (DOH) issued 18 investments statewide to expand housing access through homeownership opportunities, new rental developments, and down-payment assistance programs.

Part of the state funding will go toward seven affordable rental communities across Colorado, including El Paso, Summit, Chaffee, and Adams counties. Two of these will be Jetwing Flats in Colorado Springs, which will receive $1 million from Housing Development Grant (HDG) funds, and The Crossing Apartments in Buena Vista, which will be granted $1.6 million in HDG funding.

“We are breaking down barriers to housing that Coloradans can afford, and are thrilled to see more homes being built every year. This funding will create new homes for more than 700 hardworking Colorado families and is an important step forward to making our communities more affordable and saving Coloradans money on housing,” said Governor Jared Polis.

The State has also announced eight additional two-year contract awards through partnerships with land trusts, Habitat affiliates, and community development organizations to expand access to homeownership of an estimated 275 homes.

According to an official announcement from Governor Polis’ office, these will include:

Habitat for Humanity of Colorado, Inc. – $7.3 million in Affordable Housing Opportunity Program (AHOP) funds in statewide funding to support 97 homes in multiple local affiliates in rural and urban communities.

Impact Development Fund – $12 million in AHOP funds to support the acquisition of manufactured home communities statewide.

Chaffee Housing Trust – $864,000 in AHOP funds to continue expanding local affordable homeownership by 12 units in Chaffee and Lake Counties.

Southeast Colorado Enterprise Development, Inc. – $1 million in AHOP funds to execute 14 new homes and rehabilitation projects in rural communities across southeastern Colorado.

“Every family in Colorado deserves a place they can afford to call home. These awards are a testament to our continued commitment to creating housing options that meet the diverse needs of Coloradans. Through strategic investments and collaborative partnerships, DOLA is dedicated to fostering resilient communities where every individual has access to safe, stable, and affordable housing.”
