COS store gives all profits to animal rescue programs

(COLORADO SPRINGS) — Thrift shopping has grown in popularity in the past few years, and
Colorado Springs has one very unique thrift shop which donates all of its proceeds
to animal rescues, welfare groups, and causes.

Last year alone, the “thrift shop,” called Rescued Hearts Unique Boutique, donated about $80,000 dollars towards the mission. It’s completely volunteer-run, and accepts and sells donated items, along with some new options like pet supplies and toys. People and businesses also donate new items like HOKAs or Birkenstocks.

All of the volunteers’ dogs roam around the store, making it your one-stop-shop to help strays and pet pups.

“There’s more animals in the rescue now than ever before. The funding and donations are drying up nationwide, and these local groups, we have some really good groups, and they’re struggling,” said Co-Founder Linda Hoover.

Its shoppers allow them to pay for expensive vet bills at local shelters. In fact, they say it pays all of the vet bills for most of the small rescues they work with.

Since it’s completely volunteer-based, the store is always looking for more help.
