DENVER (KDVR) — Colorado Parks and Wildlife is investigating a suspected poaching of a moose, according to a post on X from Colorado Parks and Wildlife, Northeast Region.

CPW said the incident took place near Deer Creek Canyon Park, located in Littleton, between Sept. 28 to Sept. 30.

It is suspected that the cow moose was shot.

CPW asks anyone who may have been in the area and saw the moose or heard any gunshots between the dates listed above to contact Operation Game Thief on the agency’s website, or at 1-800-COLO-OGT.

Tipsters can remain anonymous.

Earlier this month, CPW shared information about possible elk poaching in Las Animas County after four large bull elk were found on four ranches in September.

Poaching is a serious crime in Colorado and if convicted, people can face heavy fines and the suspension of their hunting and fishing licenses.
