Crash involving 2 Golden police officers closes Highway 58

DENVER (KDVR) — A crash in Golden has closed eastbound lanes of Highway 58 near the intersection with West Sixth Avenue and Highway 93.

The area is near Lookout Mountain and borders portions of Clear Creek. A large police presence was at the scene as of 7 p.m. The crash was reported at about 5:30 p.m.

The Colorado Department of Transportation said the eastbound lanes were closed due to a crash. The city of Golden posted to Facebook, saying Highway 58 was closed at Washington Avenue, and that the crash involved two responding Golden police officers.

At least one person was transported from the crash, according to the Colorado State Patrol. The agency did not say if it was one of the involved officers.

However, CSP said that both officers were trapped in the crash.
