(COLORADO SPRINGS) — On Saturday night, May 17, a crash involving two motorcycles and one car on West Garden of the Gods Road and Northpark Drive resulted in one person being taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries and the roads being closed for several hours.
According to the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD), around 7 p.m. on Saturday, when officers arrived at the intersection near I-25, they found that one of the motorcycle drivers had sustained life-threatening injuries. The rider was taken to the hospital for treatment.
CSPD stated that the second motorcycle rider was treated on the scene for possible serious injury but refused transport to the hospital. The driver of the vehicle was not injured.
CSPD reported that all eastbound lanes of Garden of the Gods were closed east of I-25, and both northbound and southbound lanes of Northpark Drive were closed as of around 7:30 p.m. The roads were reopened around 12:45 a.m.
The cause of the crash is still under investigation. Alcohol is not suspected to be a factor in the crash, but speed is being investigated as a possible factor.
