Firefighters have been helping to ensure people’s homes are taken care of while they’re evacuated, assisting with cutting handlines and picking up hose.

Recently, they took a day off and spent some time at the beach to unwind. While there, they saw pieces of homes that had burned during the fire and washed up on the shore, serving as a sad reminder of the devastation.

“It’s an eerie sight and a sad reminder of the devastation that happened there,” CSFD wrote via Facebook.

On Jan. 12, CSFD deployed to California to help with several fires and were assigned to Zuma Beach in Malibu for an initial attack on the fires.
