DENVER (KDVR) — No threat was detected after staff at the Colorado Capitol discovered an “unknown substance” in a package sent to a state representative on Friday.
According to a release from the Colorado State Patrol, the package arrived just after 10 a.m. and was sent to Representative Junie Joseph’s office.
A staff aide opened the package and discovered the “unknown substance” inside.
Authorities spoke to the person who sent the package and CSP said they “indicated no threat.”
A CSP hazardous materials team responded and tested the substance. CSP said it brought back a presumptive result of negative and no threat was immediately detected.
Rep Joseph’s office was temporarily closed but has since reopened. CSP said regular business at the Capitol was not disrupted.
