CSP responds to five separate rollovers on I-25 Tuesday

(HUERFANO COUNTY, Colo.) — Colorado State Patrol (CSP) said troopers responded to five different rollovers on I-25 near Walsenburg on Tuesday, March 18 during high wind advisories.

According to CSP, the first crash involved a Chevrolet Suburban hauling a trailer on southbound I-25 at milepost 53 north of Walsenburg. The Chevrolet was upright but the trailer was on its side. The five people in the Chevrolet were taken to the hospital, the extent of injuries unknown. Both lanes of traffic were blocked from the crash.

The second rollover involved a semi-truck hauling an empty trailer on southbound I-25 at milepost 56, a few miles north of the Chevrolet’s location. The crash blocked both lanes of traffic, and no injuries were reported.

The third incident was a semi-truck hauling a trailer on I-25 at milepost 54, and the rollover blocked the left lanes of southbound and northbound I-25. One driver was taken to the hospital, the extent of their injuries is unknown.

The fourth rollover was a Toyota Tundra hauling a trailer on I-25 at milepost 53. The rollover did not block any lanes of traffic and no injuries were reported.

The fifth crash involved a Ram 1500 hauling a trailer on I-25 at milepost 53. Both lanes of traffic were blocked and CSP suspects minor injuries at the time.

CSP is warning drivers of high-profile vehicles, including semi-trucks, that the high wind warning on Tuesday will remain in effect until 7 p.m. in the Trinidad vicinity/Western Las Animas County below 7500 feet and the Walsenburg vicinity/Upper Huerfano River Basin below 7500 feet.
