CSP wrote more than 150 citations Superbowl Sunday

(COLORADO) — Troopers with the Colorado State Patrol (CSP) wrote more than 150 citations for multiple traffic violations during its increased enforcement operation on Superbowl Sunday, Feb. 11.

The enforcement period on Sunday was conducted in partnership with 26 other local agencies, in an effort to reduce negative driving behaviors that are consistently exacerbated on a day like Superbowl Sunday.

CSP said 96 troopers across the state participated in writing more than 150 citations for seatbelt violations, distracted driving, and speed violations, as well as 11 arrests for Driving Under the Influence.

CSP said impaired driving continues to be the leading cause of Colorado crash fatalities. In fact, 1 out of every 3 traffic deaths in Colorado involved an impaired driver in 2023. CSP reminds drivers to plan a sober ride when attending big events like the Superbowl. It could save you thousands of dollars in fines, and it could also save your life.
