CSPD: 52-year-old identified as shooting victim

(COLORADO SPRINGS) — The Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) identified the victim of a shooting that occurred on East Hills Road on Monday, July 29.

The shooting took place on Saturday evening, July 27 in the 700 block of East Hills Road, near the intersection of East Platte Avenue and North Circle Drive. Upon arrival, officers found a man with one gunshot wound and proceeded to give aid until medical responders arrived. The man succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.


CSPD investigates deadly shooting in Southeast Springs

On Monday, the El Paso County Coroner’s Office conducted an autopsy and identified him as 52-year-old David Charles Compare. While the coroner’s office will determine the cause and manner of death, the case is currently being investigated as a homicide.

A suspect is not in custody, and detectives continue to investigate the circumstances of the incident, including potential suspect information. This is the 23rd homicide in Colorado Springs this year. At this time last year, there were 16 homicides.
